Candidates – ProcessSend the Resume. The candidate should forward a resume, compensation requirements, geographical preferences, and other pertinent information to CES. You will be matched with the search consultant with the appropriate background and industry experience. Assess Credentials. The search consultant assesses the qualifications and determines whether the candidate has the necessary background and credentials their client is seeking. |

Schedule a Meeting. The search consultant and candidate meet to discuss details of the search process and the candidate’s background. This is an informal meeting and serves to develop a rapport with the search consultant, ultimately leading to a positive long-term relationship. Resume is Presented. The search consultant will contact the candidate when an appropriate position is listed by a firm. An in-depth conversation follows with the candidate about the job description, department staffing, and growth prospects. The candidate decides if the resume is forwarded to the client. The search consultant will then take the time to get the client excited about the candidate and arrange interviews. Interview Preparation. The candidate should dress appropriately for the interview. Be courteous to receptionists and assistants because managers could seek their input when the interview has concluded. Most importantly, be yourself. Before leaving the interviewer’s office, ask for a business card so you can write a letter thanking them for their time. It’s important to contact the search consultant immediately when you leave the firm so that if the employer calls, the search consultant can provide instant feedback to the manager regarding your interest. Interview. If all goes well, the employer will forward an offer to CES. The search consultant will convey this to the candidate and discuss the merits of the offer. The offer can be a “take it or leave it” where the company is not interested in negotiating. While other offers enable flexibility regarding compensation and benefits. Offer and Acceptance. Once the candidate has accepted an offer, the candidate’s loyalty is now with the new employer. The search consultant will work with all parties to determine an applicable start date. A minimum of two weeks from the time the offer is accepted should transpire before the candidate begins the new position. This enables the candidate to notify his/her current employer of their departure. This is a business decision that should not be dealt with emotionally and should be explained to the current employer in this manner. If done right, the current employer will understand the reasons for the candidate’s move.
